Does the Shark Steam Mop Really Work?
While flipping through the channels on an early Saturday morning, I came across an infomercial that caught my eye! The Shark Steam Mop boasts big claims such as “Obliterates though grime, eradicates stubborn dirt, and melts away sticky messes”... With a full time job, a shedding cat, an “outdoor/indoor” dog, two children under the age of 6 and a significant other that thinks sticky kitchen floors are the status quo, I immediately hopped online to read reviews of the Shark Steam Mop!
There are tons of steam mop reviews freely available from consumers that use this particular steam mop first hand. Just as the commercial boasts, the majority of the claims were indeed substantiated by critical consumers. The price was on this hardwood floor cleaner was just right – just under a hundred bucks - so, I bought the Shark Steam Mop and gave it a whirl!
The Shark Steam Mop was actually attractive – a nice orchid purple – unlike your grandma’s old wooden handled squeeze mop!
Assembly of the steam mop was a cinch! There are only 3 parts that easily snap together with very little effort.
This hardwood floor cleaner was very lightweight at only 3 pounds. The weight of this mop alone was by far the best feature because we have hardwood and tile floors throughout the entire house including the kitchen, bathrooms and basement.
The Shark Steam Mop even came with 2 microfiber cleaning pads as an added bonus! I discovered that one can reuse the microfiber cleaning pads by simply throwing them in the washing machine.
Still a bit skeptical, I wondered if this mop was able to clean my tile floors with only steam and water. I had some rough caked-on dirt in my basement with several grease stains that I have tried countless ways to remove. These stains came up quickly and easily without any scrubbing after a few sweeps with the Shark Steam Mop. After seeing it clean up these stubborn stains, I was excited to use it in the rest of the house. Well, as excited as one can be about cleaning floors!
I find myself on my hands and knees on a daily basis scrubbing the scuff marks off the kitchen floor from kids and the dog tracking who knows what through the house. With only a couple of sweeps over the area, the scuff marks were completely gone and my floor was left spotless and shiny! The Shark Steam Mop lived up to the test with ease. Next, I put the steam mop to the ultimate test with grape jam and cola. These things are always so hard to clean up and often require some type of cleaning solution. The Shark Steam Mop (with only heated water) worked great with no sticky residue afterwards, and the floor dried very quickly.
I have had my Shark Steam Mop over 4 months now, and it continues to work just as well as the day I took it out of the box. It sure has made my job easier in cleaning up messes throughout the house. I am surprised and impressed because it actually does what the manufacturer and advertisements claim it can do.
